Abstract - An approach used to elucidate mechanisms of response following exposure to endocrine disrupting compounds is to target genes that are thought to play a significant role. The aim of this collaborative project was therefore to use a PCR based method to clone and sequence oestrogen receptors in the three-spined stickleback and then use a real-time PCR assay to investigate relative expression levels in samples from fish that had been exposed to various compounds.
